Enabling Simple and Effective Desalination Solution

Increasing water scarcity and the non-potable nature of many available water resources have resulted in the quest for simpler and effective water purification solutions. Capacitive deionization (CDI) has been identified as a technology with much promise in efficient onsite treatment of water/wastewater that enables tunable removal of total dissolved solids. The current study discusses various existing and emerging opportunities using the capacitive deionization technology. Challenges and drivers for the technology have also been discussed in the study.
