Micro LED Product Definition:

Currently, Micro LED and Mini LED are mainly defined by identifying if LED chips contain growing substrates after mass transfer. The size of Mini LED chips is around 75-500μm and Mini LED chips contain growing substrates (like sapphire substrate). Yet, Micro LED chips are free of growing substrates and the size is less than 75μm.Package method falls into two types: chip on board (glass, silicon, PCB and so on...) and N in 1 (IMD, Integrated Mounted Devices). The use of package type depends on mass transfer technology and correlated backplane materials.

2019-2024 Micro LED Output Analysis and Forecast:

With the evolution of Micro LED technology, various applications have different development progress. It is estimated that the output value of Micro LED chips for TV display application will stand at USD XXX billion.Remark: Given that the quantity of Micro LED chip photomask increases and chip structure is almost tailored design, ASP of each chip remains high. As a result, LEDinside adjusts the Forecast and output value. The usage amount of Micro LED wafer relies on resolution and hypothetical chip dimension. Thereby, for TV and display applications, due to higher resolution, larger chip size and usage amount of wafer to be much more than that for other applications, it's estimated that the usage amount of Micro LED wafers (converted into four inch) for TV and IT display applications in 2024 will reach XXX million and XXX million pcs respectively.

Micro LED Key Technical Bottleneck:

Currently, technical bottlenecks facing novel Micro LED display fall into six aspects: epitaxy & chip, transfer, full color, power driving, backplane, detection and repairing technologies.

Looking at the worldwide Micro LED supply chain: most of the Micro LED wafer and chip manufacturers are located in China, while mass transfer technology developers are mostly from Europe and the US.
