The purpose of this report is to provide a resource to quantify, segment and target the mar-kets of electricity utilities and their customers. The report provides analysis of the customer bases of global electricity utilities with historical data forecast to 2030 by country, and snap-shots of individual utility customer bases in 2019.
The data provides market analysis in tiers; Global, Regional, National, Utilities and drills down to the Customer Bases of individual Utilities. 10 regions and 211 countries.
901 Electricity Transcos; -> 7,182 Electricity Discos; -> 2,224 million Consumers.
This electricity database has some surprises and without the information opportunities could be missed and wrong directions taken. For example, in the addressable markets of electricity utilities Eu-rope and North America have 76% of the world's DSOs, with only 11% of the largest companies but 77% of the smallest. In contrast, Asia has only 4% of the total number, but 87% of the largest utilities. South Ameri-ca has only 3.6% of the total, but 16% of the mid-size.
The database has many such comparisons, which demonstrates its value as a targeting resource.
12 Excel spreadsheets.
This report is based on a series of databases created in stages by StatPlan over 20 years - Population, Households, Electrification and Gasification, Utilities, Utility Customers. The demograhic databases con-tain figures from 1900 to 2020, forecast to 2050, for 211 countries, national customer forecasts to 2030, and individual utility customers are recorded for the latest year. Forecasts are derived from new installa-tions and replacements at the end of service life. The databases are updated continuously. The world is now in a stage of development where many countries are declining in population, but because household size is shrinking, numbers of households and consumers based on growing electrification and gasification are increasing. The population data is available from public records. Household data is not so readily available and has partly been constructed from household size, which has been assembled from many different sources. Utility and customer data has been gathered from national and utility reports involving hundreds of hours of research over many years, accessing records from official agencies and utilities in every country.
