The wet anaerobic digester segment held the largest share of the global market, as most of the feedstock process in the digester is in liquid form. This system uses organic material with a consistency of 10-20% dry matter or less. The main advantage of this digester system is that it allows for optimal mixing and thus results in high production. Also, the investment and operating costs are lower.

Small-scale digesters are biogas plants that produce methane gas from the decomposition of organic material. These plants can be found in homes, schools, and farms across many countries including India, China, and Indonesia. This is a type of anaerobic digestion system which does not require mechanical ventilation but instead relies on naturally occurring bacteria to break down compounds into more manageable substances such as carbon dioxide and water.

In June 2020: EnviTec Biogas AG announced that debuted in the Estonian gas market with a double order for its EnviThan gas upgrading plants. Even though the company has already built seven biogas plants in Latvia, gas upgrading facilities are new technologies for the Baltic nations, giving EnviTec a head-start in this region.

In August 2020: EnviTec Biogas announced that it received an order to construct 1MW of plant in Greece. The plant is located in the Thessaloniki regional unit and will use silage, food waste, and wet manure as feedstock.

In February 2017: EnviTec Biogas signed a co-operation agreement with PT Herfinta Farm & Plantation (Indonesia) and Calfield SDN BHD (Malaysia) for the construction of a biogas plant in North Sumatra, Indonesia.
