Within PTR's Hydrogen segment, a wide range of services are offered to provide an in-depth analysis of the hydrogen market in power generation, transportation, mobility, renewables and various industries across the globe. PTR covers three hydrogen technologies commonly used in several industries that include Green Hydrogen, Blue Hydrogen and Grey Hydrogen technology.

The Hydrogen Market Overview Report provides a holistic overview of the hydrogen market. Due to its simplicity and abundance, hydrogen is emerging as a fuel for the future. It has widespread applications in various industries and can be categorized into eight types depending upon the production source. These are green, blue, grey, brown, black, turquoise, yellow and pink hydrogen. Major focus of the world today is on renewable or green hydrogen, followed by blue, grey, pink and then turquoise hydrogen which is still in the experimental stage.

This report focuses mainly on green, blue and grey hydrogen that are produced by electrolytic, thermal and photolytic processes. A detailed description and comparative analysis of different electrolyzer types for the production of green hydrogen has been given. These include Alkaline, Polymer Electrolyte Membrane (PEM), Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) and Solid Oxide Electrolyzers (SOE). Various cost factors involved during hydrogen production are analyzed and it is found out that the investment cost of electrolyzers will decrease as the module size increases.

Hydrogen potential is optimally dispersed around the globe with a vast potential in USA, Canada, Chile, Australia, Japan, Korea, China, most of Middle East and the European continent. Global hydrogen demand has increased with a CAGR of 2%, from 60 Mt to 90 Mt since the start of this century and is expected to be approximately 500 Mt by 2050. It will primarily be driven by refining and industrial use whereas applications like mobility and power constitute a very small portion of this demand. Europe is emerging as the leader in hydrogen production and usage as within the EU, there are 750 announced projects from all parts of the value chain that are expected to enter operation by 2025.

A detailed overview of hydrogen in transportation, buildings, industry and power sectors is also presented along with a list of the key players in hydrogen market split by region, production, transportation, end-use consumers and investors. Lastly, all the merger and acquisition activities that occurred during 2021 to February 2022 in the hydrogen market have also been described in the report.
