Power over Ethernet (PoE) has been a part of building network infrastructure for decades-since the early 1920s. PoE has established a niche market position due to its weak value proposition compared with wireless or other wired connections. Nonetheless, changed PoE standards in 2018 and technology advancements, such as a single-pair PoE, have strengthened PoE's market position.
