The ULSAB project has already shown the using ultra high strength steel makes vehicle stiffer, lighter and safe at competitive prices.

Another technique that is being used to reduce weight of the vehicles is mass optimized design technology. Approaches such as integrated vehicle system design, new manufacturing processes, secondary mass effects, etc. have helped in achieving nearly 30% weight reduction in High Strength Steel intensive bodies and nearly 40% weight reduction in Aluminum intensive vehicles bodies such as that of Jaguar XJ, Audi A8, etc.
