3D printing filament is the thermoplastic feedstock for fused deposition modeling 3D printers. This filament is fed into a heating chamber in the printer's extruder assembly for printing layer by layer 3D object. Various plastics, metal and ceramic based filament have been widely adopted in 3D printing technology. Filament is commonly available in the two standard diameters of 1.75 mm and 3 mm. 3D printing filament is created using a process of heating, extruding and cooling plastic to transform nurdles into the finished product. These filaments are used in FDM/FFF technology.
