About Submarine Sensors

A submarine employs a comprehensive array of sensors consisting of a group of passive and active sonars to detect targets. Active sonar sensors record audible pings to generate echoes and reveal objects around the submarine. However, while doing so, active sonars can simultaneously reveal the submarine's presence to the enemies. Therefore, the use of sonars is increasingly becoming unpopular among naval forces. The passive sonar sensors consist of a set of different and sensitive hydrophones that are integrated into the hull or trailed in a towed array.
