About AGC

An AGC is a closed loop control system that controls multiple generators in an interconnected power system within a specified area. Generators are usually equipped with a primary controller for controlling frequency/active power control and voltage/ reactive power control; however, in a grid there are multiple generators that have to function in tandem with each other. AGC is used as a secondary controller for multiple generators. This system will ensure that the frequency and voltage is within a specified range even between the interconnected utility connection, and share the total power generated between assigned generators.
