Sodium reduction ingredients (SRIs) are used to reduce the sodium content in the food products. SRIs is one of the fastest growing ingredients segments in the food industry. Increasing rationalism among consumers regarding the sodium intake coupled with consistent efforts from the government regulatory bodies to cut down sodium in the processed foods based on yearly targets is fuelling the growth of this market. Furthermore, voluntary commitments by the global food manufacturers such as ConAgra foods Inc., (U.S.), Nestle S.A (Switzerland), Pepsi Co. (U.S.) to reduce sodium content in their offerings provides imputes to the market growth.
