Ozone sensors are used to determine the ozone content across a wide variety of applications. A sample can be identified as contaminated or as contaminant free based on the comparison of the earth ozone level of the sample with that of pre-registered readings of ozone. This is done so that the level of contamination can be determined. Ozone present in the atmosphere protects all individuals from the harmful rays of the sun while that found in the earth can have a harmful effect. Because of the ozone present in the earth, it can have health issues on individuals who breathe the gas in. Ozone is created on ground level through the interaction of sunlight and smog which causes some sort of chemical reaction thereby creating ozone which can now contaminate air as well as food particulates. Because of the ozone reset in the land, the temperature of the earth increases (extremely marginal increase) thereby inducing more environmental problems which all in all adds to the rise of gases which deplete the ozone layer in the atmosphere.

Ozone sensors are used across a wide variety of applications ranging from food safety, water treatment, environmental testing as well as sterilization. The use of ozone as a sterilizer has come in play over the last decade where ozone is used to decompose the constituents of bacteria and fungi. Furthermore, since it is a chemical decomposition which takes place, ozone is preferred to just a standard sterilization technique whereas in the standard technique, heat is applied to kill all the bacteria. However, depending on how resistant the bacteria is, some could survive. This is not the case for ozone and it is for this reason that ozone is used as a sterilizer for the healthcare sector.
