This IDC study presents an outlook for the server DRAM DIMM market for the 2020-2024 period. The DRAM industry dynamics and the server workload changes are aggregated, analyzed, and applied to this long-term DIMM forecast in terms of units and DRAM content per DIMM."The COVID-19 pandemic creates non-face-to-face environment for the enterprise market. It will favor somewhat different workloads from historical memory-rich workloads of ERM, data management, and DVI. Those workloads will be CRM, SCM, content creation, networking and security infrastructure, and media streaming. It will also accelerate the transition to the cloud and increased demand from cloud SP. IDC forecasts that the server DIMM market will experience unprecedented hypergrowth in 2020, followed by a short adjustment in 2021, and then will restart growth to the end of the forecast period," said Soo-Kyoum Kim, associate vice president, IDC's Semiconductor Research Program.
