AI has long been viewed as relevant only to the most advanced organizations in the most developed nations. In this IDC Perspective, we discuss what artificial intelligence (AI) means for developing economies and provide a framework that can be used to develop and orchestrate resources accordingly, collaboratively, and progressively. Dr. Chris Marshall, VP for AI, IDC Asia/Pacific, notes, "Developing economies have to place their bets carefully on different aspects of AI development and deployment if they are to leverage the investments in existing technologies made by developed markets, leverage their populations, and help solve impactful social and economic problems."
