This IDC study presents an outlook for the server DRAM DIMM market for the 2018-2023 period. The DRAM industry dynamics and the server workload changes are aggregated, analyzed, and applied to this long-term DIMM forecast in terms of units and DRAM content per DIMM."The server DRAM DIMM market had a sudden strong headwind of inventory correction, driven by cloud service providers. But market fundamental will still be alive. Cloud expansion, ongoing datacenter construction, rich-configured memory for various workload, appearance of new processor architecture, and low DRAM pricing will make the DIMM market grow again by the end of the year. In the long run, this market will become stabilized as server bit demand itself declines gradually," said Soo-Kyoum Kim, associate vice president, IDC's Semiconductor Research Program.
