"The UAE outsourcing and cloud services market performed strongly in 2014, and is expected to gain increased traction in the coming years. However, falling oil prices are likely to result in cautious spending and budget cuts, which could impact large-scale outsourcing deals in 2015 and 2016. Managed and cloud services providers should be prepared to face increased competition from new market entrants and quickly maturing local services providers. The coming years will witness rapid cannibalization of both the HIS and HAM markets by IaaS and SaaS, which is why it is important for datacenter services providers to up their game and move up the value chain. Increased investments in building a stronger partner network in the UAE will be pivotal to the success of global cloud services providers. A datacenter in the country will be the cherry on the cake, but the investment may not very well justify the size of the immediate and even the future opportunity." - Research Manager Saurabh Verma, IT Services, IDC MEA.
