This IDC Market Perspective highlights how the enterprise software market is in a state of transformation. The software product that will be leveraged by the Future Enterprise will be modular and based on open microservices. It will be priced based on the outcomes it delivers for the Future Enterprise. The place that buyers (and the broader ecosystem) will locate the software on will be a platform-based marketplace. It will be promoted based on a customer journey that is personalized for every buying center in the future C-suite (i.e., the Digital Dream Team). "As we accelerate toward our digital destiny, there is a convergence happening - traditional organizations are increasingly becoming digital innovation factories. Moreover, the traditional enterprise software market is transforming to deliver value to the future enterprise in different ways," said Philip Carter, GVP, IDC's C-Suite Technology Research. "IDC provides this framework to help enterprise software vendors, partners, and buyers work along a continuum to deliver longer-term value creation as well as creating a basis to ask ourselves questions such as how customers will consume software services in the future, how these will be valued and sold, and which software technology technologies will 'win' architecturally in the future."
