目錄

More than three-quarters of panelists in this month's Thought Leadership Council (TLC) forum say their company's overall knowledge about software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) security is either good or excellent. The 11 panelists in this month's forum are service provider experts in SD-WAN.

The panelists were asked to grade their company's current level of knowledge concerning SD-WAN security, and the majority gave their companies a B score. One such panelist, who said his company already has three SD-WAN projects in progress, including one already in production, said, "To improve SD-WAN security, we need clearer business requirements to understand SD-WAN's position within the product portfolio. We also should move the data center to OpenStack to host SD-WAN in a more distributed way."

About 35 percent of panelists surveyed say their companies have completely implemented a full security strategy for SD-WAN, and another 25 percent say they will have done so by the end of this year.

The Council circumvents traditional industry hype to ascertain how service providers are really responding to important industry technologies and trends. What makes this initiative so unique is that participants discuss issues in a completely anonymous forum, enabling them to share insights and express business realities that otherwise could not be shared.

‘SD-WAN Focus Group: Security Good for Now, but Don't Rest on Laurels ’ was generated from a Q&A with service provider employees who are experts on SD-WAN. This focus group was asked 10 questions about overall security, technology and outside influences related to SD-WAN security. The results clearly indicate that service providers believe they're doing a good job on SD-WAN security but need to consider some enhancements to continue doing so.

TLC members were asked to grade their company's current level of knowledge regarding security for SD-WAN, using a traditional grading system in which A=excellent, B=good, C=average, D=needs improvement and F=failing. Results are shown in the excerpt below. Forty-six percent of panelists gave a score of B, indicating their company's overall knowledge of SD-WAN security is good job, while 36 percent of panelists gave a score of A, indicating the level of knowledge about SD-WAN security is excellent.
