Over the coming years solar-plus-storage will take off as one of the most common applications of energy storage in the US. By 2023, more than 50% of annual storage deployments in the US are expected to be paired with solar. As system design evolves, choice of architecture will become an important consideration when developing solar-plus-storage projects.

In this report we compare the system economics of front-of-the-meter AC-coupled and DC-coupled solar-plus-storage systems and identify key attributes that will drive each of these architectures in both front-of-the-meter and behind-the-meter markets in the future.
