In 2019, the kitchen furniture market reached a value of US$ 6.3 billion (RMB 43,568 million) at factory price in China, accounting for around 5% of the world furniture market. Approximately 3.4 million kitchens were produced by Chinese kitchen furniture firms, of which around 509 thousand were addressed to exports and over 2.8 million to the domestic market. Exports, which account for over 18% of the local production, declined by 28% compared to 2018 (-24.8% in RMB), mainly due to the trade frictions with the USA that still remain their largest destination market.
From the competitive system perspective, although the kitchen furniture market has been traditionally more fragmented than those of other type furniture, most of the production of kitchen furniture is managed by the top 50 players, which accounts for over 55% of its total value. In fact, over the last few years, the industry has undergone a process of consolidation, including several IPO and M&A.
