The European contract furniture and furnishing production increased by 1.4% in 2019, if compared to the previous year. The major manufacturing countries in Western Europe are Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom and Sweden, which provide the 65% of total European output together.
It is estimated that about 20% of the production is destined to exports outside the Western European region especially in North America, Eastern Europe, Russia and Middle East.
Following several M&A operations going on in the business, the sector is progressively becoming more concentrated, as the combined market share of the top 10 companies rose from 30% in to about 34% in 2017-2019.
Office, hospitality and retail segments represents about 63% of the whole contract market.
