The Chinese bathroom market continued to grow slowly in 2019 due to slowing down of new housing construction, reasonable growth of sales to housing RMI, and fully renovated housing projects. The sales to the housing RMI segment grew faster than into new construction driven by the improvement of household incomes and increasing interests on pursuit for comfort and fashionable bathroom. The acceleration of urbanization and the improvement of infrastructure and housing conditions in tier three to tier four cities and vast rural areas boosted the demands for modern bathroom products with sales growing quickly in these areas. The bathroom market in tier one and tier two cities tends to be mature and there are growing sales of medium to premium products for the upgrade of bathroom and the redecoration of homes. In the non-housing sector, the increasing renovation and upgrading of hotels and offices, and growing construction of new schools, hospitals, sports and recreational facilities led to the demand for medium to high end bathroom products.

In 2019, the bathroom products tended to be comfort, personalized, intelligent and fully renovated, which further boost the market developing from pursuing for quantity previously to respect for quality currently. The outbreak of COVID-19 in early 2020 attached the Chinese bathroom market seriously in the first half of the year and the market is expected to gradually recover from the second half and should return to a good growth from 2021 with the ease of pandemics and return to the normality. Therefore, the market outlook for bathroom products in China is generally positive after 2021 because of an expected growth of the economy, strong demands in housing RMI segment and increasing construction and refurbishment activities in nonhousing sector. Despite the slowing down of new dwelling completions, the sales to fully renovated housing will continue to grow with more completions in more regions under the governments' supporting policies. In addition, the construction of new dwellings should continue to grow in tier three to tier four cities with the acceleration of urbanization with no controlling policies imposed. The housing RMI segment will continue to grow with the improvement of incomes. The acceleration of urbanization and the government's plan on improving public and commercial infrastructure will continue to boost thedemands for bathroom products in the non-housing segment in the future.
