This report provides an in-depth analysis of the Indian expansion vessel market. Key data points include the evolution of historical and future trends as well as an examination of technical segmentations, structure of supply and routes to market.

Market Developments

The overall EV market in 2016 developed positively in volume terms compared to 2015 for the 24 countries researched. China, not only being the largest market world wide, was also the highest performing market in terms of market volume growth with a year on year growth rate of more than 30%. Volume sales for the rest of the world excluding China recorded a slight contraction in 2016 as the other large markets (e.g. DE, US, FR, IR, RU, IT) all contracted. However in terms of value, strong performance was seen across almost all markets.

Expansion vessels in Europe, particularly those integrated into gas boilers, are predominantly reliant on replacement sales due to the maturity of the market. The forecasted importance of the replacement segment is expected to increase despite growing new construction, due to the increasing park of vessels requiring replacement.

The competitive landscape for expansion vessels is somewhat more consolidated than other heating component markets, with the top five players supplying 25% of the sales volume in 2016.

Looking ahead, the outlook for the global expansion vessels market is bright. This is again driven by the Chinese market. The prognosis for the rest of the world is still positive, though with a lower overall growth rate.
