Key View:

Singapore has established a role as a regional financial hub and the city-state is home to a strong, competitive and diverse banking and financial services sector. The banking sector is very well capitalised, and though loan growth is subdued, recent results indicate that growth has been achieved through an increase in asset management activity. The market benefits from strong regulatory oversight and Singapore's position as a stable regional market. We note, however, that economic growth has slowed over recent quarters and Singapore is vulnerable to a regional downturn as the US-China trade war continues.
