Key View:

This quarter we have extended our forecasts for Denmark's Power sector to 2028. This notwithstanding, our core assumptions remain virtually unchanged. The short-term outlook for the power market in Denmark remains broadly positive, with robust gains in the large non-hydropower renewable energy sector more than compensating for a decline in output from thermal power sources, as showcase by a successful energy auction in December 2018, which saw renewables projects competing on the same basis as conventional projects under the government's plans to phase out green subsidies by 2030. The ongoing government commitment to cleaner sources of energy will ensure Denmark's hydropower and renewable energy sectors remain attractive prospects for investors, though slow consumption growth could hinder the future development of new capacity, leaving Denmark increasingly reliant on energy imports.
