Industrie 4.0 and Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) are both working to develop advanced connected manufacturing systems where the Internet of Things (IoT) and the analysis of huge amounts of data are the main drivers to achieve the smart manufacturing concept. Regardless, the different structures and the way of deploying their models, both organizations have the same aim of accelerating the adoption process of IoT.

Industrie 4.0 and IIC defined their own requirements, frameworks, and the corresponding reference architecture that support their operational strategies. Different operating stakeholders in the industry like companies, innovators, and investors are currently trying to explore the two organisations and their effects on their businesses to help them in their upcoming decisions. This report will assess the ultimate goals, reference architectures, concepts, and strategies provided by Industrie 4.0 and IIC to implement Industrial Internet, while identifying their impact on the value chain and the related technologies.
