Key View: We estimate that construction sector growth slowed to 1.8% in 2020 from a five-year historic average of 5.9%. This short-term weakness is due largely to the Covid-19 pandemic, which has slowed business activity, weakened the macroeconomic environment and government financing, disrupted supply chains and threatened projects under development. We forecast a strong rebound in construction sector activity in 2021, of 9.7%, as the negative impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic recede.
