Project Background, Objectives, and Market Review

Throughout the spring of 2008, Wainhouse Research (WR) conducted an independent assessment of the conferencing services market in Australia and New Zealand, the China country group (Taiwan, Hong Kong, and PRC), the SE Asian country group (Singapore and Malaysia), Korea, India, and Japan. This in-depth study is intended to provide a current state of the local Asia Pacific markets, assess current trends, identify risks and opportunities, and provide assistance on market approach, services, and prices.

The report includes current market data and analysis as well as forecast information. Data from this report will assist clients in determining and establishing local marketing strategies and product offerings, and in setting in-country budgets and sales expectations.

Data in this report is largely quantitative, providing current and future information on the volume and revenue of services in local Asian Pacific markets. Each subscriber to this report is encouraged to contact the author for a one hour online briefing where specific qualitative information can be discussed according to client needs.

The report is provided in two parts:

  • Local country analysis, forecasts, and provider rankings by service, and
  • Summary review of providers.

In 2008, separate surveys of user trends will be available via the Rich Media Metrics study of conferencing services.

Country Categorization & Local Market analysis

In this report, we have treated some countries separately and grouped others where we felt it appropriate from a market analysis standpoint. In some areas we have been provided individual estimates or data within a range, versus actual data. For this report we have provided vendor rankings in some, but not all local markets. In future reports we hope to provide vendor rankings for all local markets.

Country Group Definitions

  • Australia & New Zealand have been combined as one country group of which Australia represents a significant market majority.
  • China CG -- China Country Group encompasses Hong Kong, Taiwan, and The People' s Republic of China (of which Hong Kong currently represents the majority, although we believe the PRC will fast overtake Hong Kong as the region' s leader).
  • SEACG - South East Asia Country Group encompasses Singapore and Malaysia (of which Singapore currently holds a majority market share).

Asia Pacific Market Overview

WR conducts two studies each year on the Asia Pacific CSP market. One is a quarterly study which collects data from a limited number of large providers (CSP SpotCheck) and is a good monitor of trends.

The other is this annual report, which seeks a thorough understanding of the market and provides a more comprehensive review of the actual size and market dynamics in local markets.
