附錄
Abstract
Avaya is a 5-year-old startup with a 100 year history. As the markets Avaya
competes in transition to IP communications, the company is betting its future
on four key areas: IP telephony, mobility, call centers, and support services.
These fundamental capabilities are enabling Avaya to develop a unified
communications framework designed to accelerate business processes by
embedding voice, presence, IM, messaging, speech, video, and conferencing into
the workflow fabric of any organization. But will this strategy work and will
Avaya's bet pay off? In this report we provide a comprehensive third-party
analysis focusing on Avaya's plans for competing in the unified communications
market. It includes a description of Avaya's market strategies and fundamental
beliefs as well as a review of how well the company has performed to date. We
offer details on 18 of Avaya's communications products, including its base IP
communications and mobility offerings. We describe the company's transition
from a hardware to a software company. We provide an analysis of the company's
strengths and weaknesses and the challenges it faces competing in a market in
the midst of a technology transformation. We conclude with our opinion of
Avaya's probability for success in the 5 - 7 year time frame and in the longer
term.
