Abstract
“Global backhaul: The Bandwidth Explosion in Wireless Networks ”
is an analysis of the global wireless backhaul market. It identifies key
network and subscriber trends and assesses their impact by region
(Asia-Pacific, Middle-East Africa, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Latin
America, and North America). The 111 Table report quantifies total base
stations deployments, backhaul lines, base stations sites and backhaul
operating expenditures by region through 2012. In addition, each Section
divides backhaul lines and total sites further by capacity in use and it also
divides backhaul lines by access technology (wireless vs. fixed line).
Deployment of IP-based base stations is also provided for each region.
Topics
- Subscriber trends
- Network deployments
- Impact of WCDMA LTE, CDMA2000 EV-DO
- Role of GSM/GPRS/EDGE
- Impact of 4G, WiMAX and other standards
- Impact of higher bandwidth backs needs
- IP vs. TDM traffic
- Cost of total backhaul services
- Wireless backhaul links employed
- Backhaul links by capacity
- Backhaul links by access technology (wireless or wireline)
- Base station sites
- Sites by total capacity employed
- Mobile base stations deployed
- Deployments of IP-centric radio access technologies
- Mobile subscribers
- Network upgrade trends
Regions
- North America
- Latin America
- Middle East and Africa
- Asia Pacific
- Western Europe
- Eastern Europe
Research Methodology
Visant studies are the result of primary and secondary research. Analysts
gather information via interviews with marketing and engineering executives
and through corporate reports, databases, and other secondary sources.
Evaluations are made based on the current performance of various components of
a particular technology, including need or expected need, market potential,
technology evolution, maturation, price points, and the companies and
resources being put towards the development or deployment and political
considerations, when necessary.
