目錄
Product Code: MRR-FIRE14

This report examines the business of the manufacture of fire apparatus in North America. Product types examined include aerial ladders, aerial platforms, pumpers, tankers, rescue trucks, wildland/brush trucks, and aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) trucks. The study is a one-time picture of North American manufacturers, with the key objective of identifying “who is who” in the business.

The fire apparatus manufacturing industry has witnessed a sea change in the last four to five years. While the total number of units manufactured has remained in a narrow range since 2009-the year in which the industry collapsed an estimated 30% to 35% from the previous year-fire apparatus manufacturers today are different in many ways from their earlier incarnations.

It has not been just about plant closures, layoffs and subsequent call-backs, or even sell-offs. Fire apparatus manufacturers have reworked their product offerings, ventured into new international markets, scrapped unprofitable product lines and moved manufacturing facilities to stay afloat and come out leaner, more nimble-footed and better equipped to take on the challenges of a very different emergency response marketplace. Products are now more about “multi-function” and “budget-conscious”, markets are global, and manufacturing practices and technologies more efficient, both in apparatus construction and in fighting fires. Even the sacrosanct “custom chassis” has been redesigned to make it more affordable, and the term “entry-level” custom chassis is being increasingly heard.

STN has profiled sixty-five manufacturers of fire apparatus in the US and Canada. Estimates of 2013 production/sales in units and at market values are presented, as well as an overview of the broad competitive picture-including standings of key manufacturers-and the demand outlook for the industry through 2018.

These and other topics are the subject of this report from SpecialtyTransportation.net (“STN”). The report can be put to immediate use for sales and market planning, M&A identification, competitive share analysis, alliances and technology transfer considerations.
