Review of Past Four Years in the Tablet Market - Preparations for the Next 4 Years

Initially, Apple's introduction of the iPad in 2010 ignited growth in the Tablet PC market and soon afterward Samsung released Galaxy Tab with Android OS. Since 2010, Apple and Samsung have been the two major drivers for the Tablet PC market. After four years of growth, the Tablet PC market is expected to ship 290 million units in 2014, up from 18 million units in 2010. Since its introduction, the Tablet PC market has grown by more than 15 times since and rapid growth is expected to continue into the foreseeable future.

The 1st tier producers, such as Apple and Samsung, are expected to lead the growth while 2nd tier brands will attempt to expand their market share by releasing variations of Tablet PCs in low-end price ranges in order to compete with the major tiers.

However, Tablet PC producers must review and revisit tablet market issues in order to remain within the wave of high growth. So, which producer will be able to maintain growth in this market?
