LCV sales in Europe peaked in 2007 with just over 2 million vehicles sold.
This makes the LCV market approximately 15% of the size of the passenger car
market in terms of new vehicle registrations. However, this percentage can
differ from between 5% to 35%, depending on the country. Within Europe;
France, UK, Germany, Italy, Spain and Turkey have largest markets and all have
annual sales in excess of 200,00 units. Collectively they represent over 80%
of LCV sales in Europe. The LCV market is dominated by European manufacturers
with the European-design and built Ford Transit as the largest selling model,
which accounts for approximately 10% of all sales.
Security feature fitment across Europe is slowly increasing and most
manufacturers now offer a good level of security as either standard or
