目錄

Abstract

'Conversation is the killer application'. This statement has characterised the telecoms market since Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone 130 years ago. We believe that it will still be the case in ten years' time, and probably for the rest of the 21st century. Globally, voice minutes will almost double during the next ten years, to reach 16 trillion in 2015, or about 11 minutes per day for each of the world's 4 billion telephone users.

Ovum has undertaken extensive research on numerous aspects of the voice market. The objective of this report is not to summarise all of this research, but rather to present a high-level and long-term summary of the voice market.

The report presents:

  • a quantitative 25-year perspective of the voice market from 1990 to 2015, by seven world regions
  • short scenarios of the key issues that will drive the voice market during the next ten years.
