Abstract

The European orthopedic biomaterial market will experience moderate growth over the forecast period, driven primarily by the aging European population, increasing marketing efforts by manufacturers and distributors to educate both physicians and patients on the wide variety of biomaterials available, as well as ongoing innovation by both domestic and international companies. Economic challenges will, however, continue to hinder market growth, notably in the hyaluronic acid (HA) viscosupplementation and knee cartilage repair markets, where the procedures are elective and patients are more likely to delay treatment when personal spending decreases. Furthermore, poor reimbursement will continue to inhibit market expansion as many European governments curb health care spending and favor the use of less expensive materials. Nevertheless, patients and physicians will continue to trend toward treatments that provide greater convenience, such as 1-injection HA viscosupplementation, or offer less painful procedures, such as bone graft substitutes (BGS). As a result, the European orthopedic biomaterial market will continue to show sustained growth throughout the forecast period.

The secondary research stage builds the foundation for the primary research.

The primary research methodology has four steps:

Step 1: The first step involves an impartial scan of all the information gathered during the secondary research stage to determine its utility based on the specific requirements of this report.
