Abstract
The Brazil, Russia, India, China (BRIC) electrophysiology (EP) mapping and
ablation device market - comprising sales of diagnostic and ablation
catheters, and long introducer sheaths - was valued at nearly $163 million in
2011 and will expand through 2016, driven primarily by rising EP procedure
volumes. A growing incidence of atrial fibrillation (AF) and clinical support
showing the benefits of catheter ablations will fuel these climbing procedure
volumes. The patient population will also expand as government funding toward
health care infrastructure improves accessibility and affordability for
patients across all RBIC nations. Rising penetration of irrigated-tip
radiofrequency (RF) ablation catheters will contribute further to market
growth due to the premium price of these devices compared to conventional RF
catheters.
