Abstract

The Japanese peripheral vascular (PV) device market will be fueled by the rising prevalence of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and peripheral vascular disease (PVD) in Japan - which will be spurred by the aging population and complicated by growing rates of obesity and diabetes - that will contribute to demand for PV procedures. Greater awareness of PVD, better access to health care, and the approval of new devices and indications for reimbursement will also lead to more patients seeking treatments, thereby driving procedure volumes and PV device sales. These factors will help somewhat offset the negative impact of significant biennial reimbursement cuts due to the price correction strategy in place by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. As a result, the Japanese market for PV devices will expand through 2015.

METHODOLOGY

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
