NEW PASSENGER SCREENING SYSTEMS AT JFK AIRPORT:

In Apr 2017, the transportation security administration and United airlines funded the JFK airport, with 17 automated screening lanes with larger bins and advanced technology. John F. Kennedy is one of the busiest airports in the United States and reported a passenger traffic of more than 58 million, in 2016. The demand for passenger screening systems in the airport is growing, with the increase in passenger traffic. These screening systems are capable of moving passengers, swiftly.

With the increase in daily passengers, the queues for security checks are getting longer and the wait time for customers is ticking beyond comfort. Further, the current passenger screening systems are not 100% effective, in providing assurance to passengers and the government, regarding the terrorist activities and security checks for prohibited materials. The search for a better and efficient non-intrusive screening machine is profoundly active and available for tenders, across multiple airports, globally, thereby, increasing the market for passenger screening systems market.

DEVELOPMENTS OF KEY PLAYERS:

L-3 Security received the order for 2 Clear Scan EDS at Amsterdam Schiphol airport. L-3 bags, the contract to install Provision 2 personal scanner, across 200 airports in the United States for USD 21 million (US 1000 units, worldwide 2000 units). L-3 acquired Macdonald Humphrey automation (electronics division) for USD 280 million. Humphrey deals with robotic capabilities, process automation. L-3 purchases assets of Implant Sciences (explosive trace detection) for USD 117.5 million. CATSA awarded the L-3 contract to install high-speed EDS eXaminer XLV EDS (1200 BPH) in Canada Airport. Owing to the above-mentioned developments, the airport passenger screening systems market is expected to witness a steady growth during the forecast period.
