The market for global axial compressors is expected to be $XX billion at the end of the year 2015 and by the end of 2020 it is expected to reach $XX billion. The market is expected to grow at a rate of XX%. Axial compressors is a gas compressor albeit with two intermeshing helical screws. Axial compressor consists of a series of rotating blades that move parallel to the axis of rotation. These provide continuous compression. Because of the movement of the blades the energy level of the air or fluid that passes through them gets increased. These compressors enable the continuous generation of high pressure air.

Axial compressors are used in areas where continuous high pressure is desired. Due its high efficiency, it is used in aircrafts, ships and small power plants. These are also used in wind tunnels, liquid natural gas plants and as blast furnace plants. Axial compressors are also used in air separation plants, fluid catalytic cracking units, nitric acid plants and propane dehydrogenation fuel gas units as well.

The major drivers for axial flow compressors is the very high efficiency of output which is achieved due to the presence of a series of high speed rotating blades. Not only that these compressors are quite energy efficient considering the quality of its output as compared to other compressors. But the restraints for this product include its high cost of acquisition. Also the complexity of its internal mechanical structure makes its maintenance challenging.

The axial compressors consist of several parts i.e. shaft, stator and rotor. Also axial compressors can be single stage or multistage. These can also be divided into two more types of being portable or stationary.

The nature and operation of the axial compressor makes it vulnerable. Any outside object that may enter into such a compressor is a potential threat. Since it consists of very fast moving internal rotors even a small object can damage it considerably. The opportunity however is that the availability of high quality air produced as per the requirements of specialized industries. Axial compressors are flexible that makes them suitable for operations in several fields.
