Abstract

This IDC study draws on the results of Manufacturing Insights' Asia/Pacific (Excluding Japan) Manufacturing Vertical Market Survey, carried out in 4Q07, among 75 organizations in the chemicals manufacturing segment across eight countries in the Asia/Pacific region. The focus of the study is on both business and IT priorities as well as initiatives of Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ chemicals manufacturers in 2008.

"Chemical manufacturing segment in APEJ faces challenges from rising costs of raw material and energy, as well as complexities in their supply chains. In order to improve responsiveness, improve reliability, and minimize supply chain risks, chemical manufacturers should invest in supplier relationship management (SRM), logistics control, and strategic network planning for sustainable growth", says Debashis Tarafdar, associate research director, Asia/Pacific Manufacturing Research, Manufacturing Insights, IDC Asia/Pacific.
