Abstract
This IDC Manufacturing Insights Report discusses the issues and initiatives
that manufacturers in the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan), or APEJ, region
will face in 2010. The manufacturing landscape has been through
a turbulent period in 2009. The doom and gloom of
the 1Q09 has been replaced with a wave of cautious
optimism as 2010 approaches. What initiatives will manufacturers in the
region will adopt? What issues will the manufacturers be looking
to address?
"Priorities this year is around efficiencies. We will see
a greater emphasis on process control and management; particular emphasis
will be placed on gaining visibility into the supply and
demand chain and on gaining control of the product development
process," said Dr. Christopher Holmes, Vice-President, Asia/Pacific Manufacturing Research. "We
will also see a greater use of technology to manage
the increasing complexity that the manufacturing enterprise has to operate
in, facilitating a move to fact-based decision making at the
shop-floor level and ensuring compliance."
