The SiC fibers market is projected to reach USD 1,113.3 million by 2022, from an estimated USD 240.0 million in 2017, at a CAGR of 35.9% between 2017 and 2022. Increasing use of SiC fibers in commercial and military aircraft engines is driving the growth of the SiC fibers market across the globe. However, high processing and manufacturing costs of SiC fibers are restraining the growth of the SiC fibers market during the forecast period.

SiC fibers in composites usage is expected to lead the SiC fiber market during the forecast period

SiC fibers are mainly used as reinforcements in Polymer Matrix Composites (PMCs), CMCs, and MMCs. These are most widely used for CMC components. SiC fiber-reinforced CMC components are used in turbine engines and nuclear reactors. SiC-reinforced PMC components are used in heat-resistant filters and curtains, belts, and sports & leisure equipment. However, SiC fiber-reinforced PMCs are yet to be completely commercialized. The non-composite applications of SIC fibers are very limited owing to the high cost of fibers. These are used in chemical and heat transfer industries in high-temperature applications.
