Solid state relays are semiconductor devices that are used to switch electricity to a load when a small external voltage is applied across its control terminals. They are very similar to an opto coupled devices but with a variation that these device use MOSFET transistors as the switching device. The solid state relays can be designed to switch either AC or DC to the load and have features such as small size, long operating life, and low noise while operating which makes it ideal to be used in the wide range of applications.
