Abstract

Report Description:

This is the first edition of the Connected Head Units Consumer Survey published by IMS Research. The survey is based on questions asked to 750 respondents; 250 in the UK, 250 in the US, and 250 in Germany. They were asked a number of questions ranging from the type of phone they own and their current contract, through to their views on automotive connected services and their knowledge of automotive connected brands.

The report consists of a number of questions and splits carefully selected by the analyst and report early purchasers to answer questions on the hottest topics in the automotive infotainment market. Although questions are focused on OEM products, most answers also highlight findings that are relevant to the aftermarket sector.

The report provides detailed analysis of all of the charts and tables, linking the results to their relevance to the industry. The report also provides a number of splits to assess the correlation between certain demographics and the key questions asked. For example, will it only be consumers who own smart phones that will be interested in connectivity? Is there a key age group that should be targeted by suppliers for automotive connected services? Are consumers with a higher household income more likely to pay for automotive connected services?

With some very interesting trends uncovered, particularly about consumers' appetites for connectivity in the car, whether they would be willing to pay, and perhaps why some would not be interested, this research is vital for any company operating in, or looking to move into the automotive infotainment space.
