Abstract
Report Summary
The second edition of InMedica' s report on the Chinese market for ultrasound
imaging equipment has highlighted how this market continues to see tremendous
growth. Fuelled by the growing economy and the newly initiated healthcare
reform, InMedica forecasts that the ultrasound market in China will continue
to grow strongly to 2014. Short-term, the ultrasound market has benefited from
the government' s focus on upgrading medical devices in the thousands of
township and county level hospitals across China; this has prevented the
previously anticipated dramatic decline of the B/W equipment market. The
increasing number of government tenders has also attracted multinational
companies to refocus on the low-end of the market, by setting up local joint
ventures, expanding their product lines and re-building sales channels.
Long-term however, the Chinese market for ultrasound equipment will be fuelled
by the replacement of entry-level and low-end black & white ultrasound units
by higher-priced colour systems. In addition, more local manufacturers have
entered the colour market segment which has increased competition in the
market place.
This report contains detailed revenue, unit shipment and average selling price
(ASP) analysis on the Chinese market for ultrasound imaging equipment.
Segmented by product type (compact: < 7 kg and 7 - 12 kg; cart-based:
entry-level, low-end, mid-range, high-end and premium) and by colour / black &
white, growth rate forecasts are presented to 2014. Total market and regional
statistics are provided by product type as well as by hospital level. Total
market analyses are also provided by end-user, sales channel and by
application. In addition, there is an extensive competitive environment
analysis, giving manufacturer market share estimates for each product type and
further by colour.
This report contains over 100 highly detailed tables and figures, compiled
after extensive research & industry consultation, answering key questions
such as:
