Abstract

This report is currently available in Russian language only. However, we can provide an English version of the report within 3 weeks after receiving a payment.

The report is devoted to investigation of current condition of market of flat glass in the CIS and forecast of its development up to 2015. The report consists of 7 Sections, contains 171 pages including 50 Tables, 48 Figures and 1 Appendix.

As information sources, we used data of the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), JSC RZD (rail transport statistics), Federal Customs Service, State Customs Service of Ukraine (data on foreign trade operations), Agency of Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, database of the UN. Also, data of the Inter-State Committee on Statistics of CIS, the companies, the InfoMine database, as well as mass media publications and reports of companies were used.

In the first chapter of the report the technologies of flat glass production in Russia and the world are described.

The second chapter presents data on reserves and deposits of basic raw materials for production of flat glass in Russia and CIS.

The third chapter is devoted to the production of flat glass in the CIS (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan). This section provides statistics for the production in 2000-2010, the structure of glass production by the method of manufacture (the float method and the vertical drawing method), and regional structure of the production; besides, this chapter presents data on the volumes of output of flat glass by individual enterprises. Also this chapter analyses the current position of the leading players in the market of flat glass in the CIS, including data on available production capacities. In addition, the main projects of construction of enterprises for the production of flat glass in CIS are described here.

The fourth chapter analyzes the foreign trade in flat glass in CIS (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan). It presents data on volumes of export and import of the products in kind and in money terms, estimation of regional structure of the supplies.

The fifth chapter of the report is devoted to the consumption of flat glass, presents supply-demand balance of the products in the CIS (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan), evaluates the dynamics of the apparent consumption of flat glass. Also this section shows the structure of consumption and provides the situational analysis of the construction industry in the CIS and its development prospects.

The sixth chapter is devoted to analysis of price conjuncture of Russian glass market. In this section, the dynamics of changes in prices for flat glass at the domestic market of the Russian Federation in recent years, an overview of the export and import prices, forecast of price conjuncture of the market up to 2015 is provided.

The seventh and final chapter is devoted to forecast of the demand for and supply of flat glass in Russia in 2011-2015. Three scenarios to predict the production of flat glass up to 2015 are presented, and the forecast of consumption of the products is given, taking into account the forecast of development of the major flat glass-consuming industries (end-uses).

The Appendix presents contact information on the main producers of flat glass in the CIS.
