About Li-ion Battery for Laptop

Li-ion batteries are rechargeable batteries used in laptops. Currently, all laptop models runs on Li-ion batteries. The basic principle of li-ion batteries is that power is generated when ions move from the negatively charged electrode (anode), in the battery, to the positively charged electrode (cathode) in the battery. On the other hand, during charging, electricity from the adapter forces the ions to return to the anode. Once the adapter is removed, this cycle starts again. With time, the charge holding capacity of a Li-ion battery deteriorates because ions get trapped in anode, thereby releasing lesser amount of energy. It is then time to change the battery of the laptop.
