About Ostomy Care Accessories

Ostomy refers to a surgically made opening (stoma) in the body for the excretion of waste products such as stools, mucus, and urine from the intestines or urinary bladder externally. An ostomy can be a temporary or permanent procedure, depending on the type of condition and the needs of the patient. There are three types of ostomy: colostomy, ileostomy, and urostomy. Ostomy products include ostomy bags/pouches and ostomy care accessories. Ostomy care accessories are used to manage the needs of ostomates by enhancing the performance and comfort of ostomy bags. These accessories help provide skin care for the peristomal region, prevent leakage of the ostomy bag contents, and deodorize the contents.
