About NAND Flash Memory

NAND flash memory is a non-volatile storage technology that enables rapid read and write operations in memory cards. The memory cells in NAND flash memory chips are connected in a series that resembles a NAND gate. The series connection consumes less space than a parallel connection, reducing the cost of NAND flash chips. This makes the cost of NAND flash cards reasonable; they also become easily scalable to large densities. However, currently, the scalability of these flash cards has saturated, resulting in vendors increasingly adopting 3D NAND flash memory chips to accommodate higher memory storage capacity in a compact space. Vendors can store more bits on the chip, reducing the cost per bit. 3D NAND flash memory chips are increasingly being adopted because of their cost-, energy-, and space-saving features.
