About DMS

A distribution management system (DMS) is an integrated system that combines various components of the grid, which provides the operator valued information in a single screen. This helps the operator take informed decision in managing and monitoring the grid from a centralized location. The main function of the DMS is to make the grid more efficient and reliable by reducing power outages. DMS also performs certain automated functions like balancing the power flow, finding fault lines, and communicating with the ground staff to fix any faults before it causes any power outage. It is widely used in industrial, commercial, and residential segments.

Technavio analysts forecast the global distribution management system market to grow at a CAGR of 14.9% during 2014-2019.
